Burrus House Inn is an all-suite hotel on Roanoke Island in Manteo, NC, boasting waterfront views of Shallowbag Bay from each of our twelve unique spaces. Our guests will enjoy a well-appointed sitting room, kitchenette, luxurious bathroom, comfortable king or queen bedding and a private deck with cozy hammocks and seating. For larger groups or families, many of our suites are spacious enough to accommodate the addition of one or two of our blow-up mattress beds for the kids.
Your stay at the Inn includes continental breakfast which you can enjoy under the vaulted ceiling of our treasured "Peacock Room," plus complimentary use of our watersports equipment (kayaks and paddleboards) and bikes to explore the island. Our friendly staff is happy to help with any of your concierge needs as well, from dinner reservations to suggestions for things to do in Manteo and the Outer Banks.
Burrus House Inn was the vision of Jack Burrus, a lifelong resident of Manteo, NC, who was passionate not just about his hometown, but also this unique waterfront property. Jack dreamed of converting his family cottage to an inn so that others could one day share in his enjoyment of waterfront life on Shallowbag Bay. Embarking on this dream, Jack sold a portion of the original property to a developer and relocated the cottage structure an acre north to its current location. What stands today is the product of that dream, with Jack’s daughter at the helm. We’ve embarked upon a new chapter, and look forward to sharing it with you.
