Lunch at this deli is worth a trip to Wanchese, whether you go by car or by boat. The name comes from what the locals call a water feature near here. The deli offers fine meats and cheeses for a variety of sandwiches, but the real appeal is owner Annie Davis’s homemade cooking. You can never go wrong with one of her daily specials or her fabulous shrimp, chicken or tuna salads. Sandwiches, wraps, salads and fresh soups are always on the menu, and there’s usually a special treat every day. Beer and wine are served here, and indoor and outdoor seating are available. The deli is open for lunch Tuesday through Saturday except for a few weeks in the off-season. It's located at Thicket Lump Marina at the south end of Wanchese, and boat dockage is available while you eat.
