Charis (pronounced CARE-is, it means grace in Greek) offers a sophisticated coffeehouse setting in downtown Manteo. The coffee and espresso are available in all varieties, along with offerings of tea and chai. For food there are muffins, cinnamon buns, bagels, oatmeal and protein bars. Each month Charis donates 10 percent of its profits to a different charitable cause. If you're in a hurry, call in your order five minutes ahead of time, then pull up to the shop and they'll run your order out to you.
