Far removed from the tourist bustle, the village of Wanchese treats its visitors to true local flavor. At the Island House of Wanchese you’ll feel a world away, but the beach and the attractions of Roanoke Island are just a short drive away. Three rooms and one suite are available, and there are many amenities such as beach chairs, WiFi, TVs and VCR/DVD players. A full home-cooked breakfast buffet is served, and a guest pantry is available for afternoon refreshments. Dogs less than 25 pounds are allowed, but no other pets. To get there, take N.C. Highway 345 toward Wanchese. When you get to the Y in the road, bear right and look for the pink historic home (c. 1902) on a large shady lot across from the Bethany United Methodist Church.
