Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge is home to one of the largest populations of black bears in the eastern United States. Learn more about the bears and go on a scouting trip to look for the big furry creatures with a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service staff person. These programs are held on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. in June, July and August. Meet at the Creef Cut Wildlife Trail parking lot, 4 miles west of the U.S. Highway 64/264 split. Bring binoculars and insect repellent. The program is free. Call for additional information.
